On the June 02, 2018, the Association held its regular General Assembly and the Youth Meeting in the City of Lublin. It was a very important and fruitful meeting with a number of important matters addressed and decisions made.
One of the most significant ones was the adoption of the new revision of the Statutes of the Association, which now contains new articles on the powers of the governing bodies of the Association and interaction between them, on the Resident Representative Offices of the Association, on the electronic resource of the Association and a new section – “Cooperation”. Membership was changed to automatic upon the award of the Europe Prize; the number of towns awarded the Europe Prize to comprise the Presidium was increased from three to seven, etc.
The General Assembly also voted on the seal mock-up, and so the Association now has its official seal.
A significant accomplishment for the City of Kharkiv was the approval by the General Assembly of the opening of the Resident Representative Office of the Association in Ukraine and its Regulation. The Resident Representative Office of the Association is called to promote European values in Ukraine and develop international cooperation between the cities and understanding between the residents of Europe.
The General Assembly decided to:
- convene the Presidium of the Association in the City of Częstochowa (Poland) on December 07, 2018.
- convene the next General Assembly & Youth Meeting of the Association in the City of Szeged (Hungary) on September 06-07, 2019.
- approve in the general revision topic of thenext General Assembly & Youth Meeting as “Smart Cities” to be specified at the Presidium.
- include the City of St. Polten and the City of Ivano-Frankivsk in the Presidium of the Association in accordance with the new revision of the Statutes of the Association of Towns Awarded the Europe Prize.
